The ninth trait of a Spirit-controlled life involves something that sounds at first like the Spirit doesn’t do, but you do instead:

Self-control.

You control you. Self controls self. Right?

Mmm...not so fast.

You’ve been in control of you for most of your life, right? 

How’s that been working out?

Thought so. That’s the way it is for all of us. Truth is, we need to give up control of ourselves to the new life that is in us. The new life that is the presence of the Holy Spirit of God. 

He is the One who wants to control us. Who wants to be in the driver’s seat of our lives.

Problem is, we keep battling the Holy Spirit for the driver’s seat. 

This month, Pastor Chris will look at three examples in the Bible where self control went missing in action, reminding us why we need to continually let the Holy Spirit have the driver’s seat in our lives.
