Where Everybody Knows Your Name: Hope where You Hang Out

One of the more popular televisions series in the 1980s was Cheers. In the show, Cheers was the name of a bar in Boston, and the characters came from a variety of walks of life, sharing their dreams and their struggles with each other.

Perhaps the most poignant part of the show was the introduction, which included a song. The chorus of the song went like this:

“Sometimes you want to go

Where everybody knows your name;

And they're always glad you came.

You want to be where you can see

Troubles are all the same.

You want to go where everybody knows your name.”

God made us to be social beings—we are wired to band together, to live life together.

A growing crisis today, in the midst of the fact that we can interact with people all over the world, is loneliness. Lots of people go to public places where people hang out because they're lonely.

These are people who need to know Jesus Christ. And you, as a follower of Jesus Christ, are His ambassador, representing Him in every walk of life.

Including the places where people hang out.

So, how do you bring the hope that's found in Jesus to those people?

Go hang out with them.

How?

Come hang out with us this month (see what we did there?) as we explore how Jesus did it (He was the best at it) in the message series “Where Everybody Knows Your Name; Hope where You Hang Out."
